• Birth Roots is a nonprofit, perinatal resource center.  Families from all over Southern Maine come together at Birth Roots to participate in classes and programs that go beyond the usual details and skills to facilitate a deeper understanding of the personal, unique and individual experience of pregnancy, birth and parenting.  Our programs fees cover a portion of our expenses so donations are always welcome!
• Wherever and however you plan to give birth, our classes offer an opportunity to ask questions and sift through differening opinions and views to find answers that make sense for your family.  Curiosity, desire for community, wanting something "more/different" in their perinatal experience seem to be common denominators in families who find us. 
• While many Birth Roots families are interested in a "natural birth" and plan to breastfeed these are by no means prerequisites or requirements.  While our tendency is toward supporting connection, instincts and and intuition (aka "oxytocin parenting"), our programs focus on helping you make sense of your experience and to figure out what is right for your family.  We do not prescribe a specific style or method of birthing or parenting.
